A welcoming homeschool community for every learner
RVA East End Homeschoolers creates a safe, inclusive learning space in Richmond where LGBTQIA+, neurodivergent, and secular young people can thrive academically and socially.

For many families, finding an educational approach that honors their values while celebrating who their children truly are can feel impossible. RVA East End Homeschoolers emerged from a simple belief: that learning flourishes when young people feel genuinely welcomed, seen, and free to be themselves. In Richmond's East End, this homeschool community is becoming that sanctuary—a place where secular families, LGBTQIA+ youth, and neurodivergent learners gather not just to study, but to grow alongside peers who share their outlook.
The program is rooted in decades of classroom experience and a deep commitment to educational philosophy. Its Founder and Lead Navigator brings twenty-two years of teaching across public and private schools, Montessori training, and the lived wisdom of homeschooling her own children for seven years. That blend of formal training and personal journey shows in every aspect of how the program operates—thoughtfully designed, grounded in proven educational methods, yet flexible enough to honor each learner's unique path.
What makes RVA East End Homeschoolers distinctive is its deliberate focus on inclusion. Many young people—especially those navigating their identity or learning differently—can feel isolated in traditional school settings. Here, they find a learning environment built explicitly for them: one where secular perspectives are respected, where LGBTQIA+ identity is affirmed, and where neurodivergence is understood as a strength, not something to be fixed. Members gather not only for academics but to play, explore, and build friendships with others who get it.
As the program takes root in Richmond, it represents something quietly radical: the belief that education belongs to every young person, exactly as they are. In a community where so many feel they have to hide parts of themselves, RVA East End Homeschoolers offers something precious—permission to learn, grow, and belong all at once.
