Automated alerts that keep every volunteer's screening current — without you having to remember.

A background check from 18 months ago is not protection today. VolunteerBadge monitors every check, credential, and waiver expiration and sends alerts before anything lapses — with a one-click path to re-screen.

Why it matters

The case for Re-screening Alerts

01

Configurable alert windows fit your re-screening policy

Set your default re-screening interval (default 3 months / quarterly) and your alert lead times (default 30 and 7 days). Customize by organization to match your insurance requirements or funder expectations.

02

One weekly digest instead of one email per volunteer

Choose between individual alerts the moment something enters the warning window, or a single weekly digest summarizing everything expiring in the next 30 days. Your inbox, your preference.

03

One-click re-screen from the alert

Every alert includes a direct link to re-run the check. The volunteer's existing profile pre-fills the form — name, DOB, addresses already populated. One click charges the credit and queues the search.

04

Alerts cover checks, credentials, and waivers

Background check expiration is the obvious case, but the alert system also watches certifications, training completions, and signed waivers. One system for your whole compliance picture.

05

Alert history for audit and liability defense

Every alert sent is logged with a timestamp. If a question ever arises about whether your organization was managing re-screening diligently, the alert history is your documentation.

How it works

Three steps. Start to result.

1

Set Re-screening Rules

Define how often volunteers need re-screening, how far in advance to send alerts, and which channels receive notifications.

  • Annual, bi-annual, or custom intervals
  • Configurable lead time (7–90 days)
  • Email, Slack, or in-app notifications

FAQ

Common questions about Re-screening Alerts.

How is the re-screening interval calculated?

From the date the background check result was received, not the date the check was ordered. You can adjust the interval per organization in your settings.

Can I send alerts to multiple admins?

Yes. You can designate multiple email recipients for expiration alerts. All unlimited-seat admins can also be configured as alert recipients.

What if a volunteer leaves before their check expires — do alerts still fire?

No. Setting a volunteer to "inactive" in the compliance roster removes them from the alert queue. Alerts only fire for volunteers with active status.
