Stop playing phone tag. Your applicant lists the people who can vouch for them; VolunteerBadge invites each one, verifies their identity, and collects their answers and a short video testimonial — automatically.

Volunteer references
The reference's two minutes
Your applicant lists the people who can vouch for them. From there, VolunteerBadge does the rest — you never pick up the phone.
They get the invite
Email + text — no phone tag
They verify their identity
A free biometric facial scan
They share their honest take
A few opinion-based questions
They record a quick video
Vouch on camera, phone or desktop
It lands on your dashboard
Verified reference + video
Reference checks are one of the most valuable — and most skipped — steps in volunteer screening, because calling references is tedious. VolunteerBadge does the outreach, confirms who each reference is, and captures their honest words and their face. You get real character insight without lifting a finger.
No more phone tag
We reach each reference by email and text automatically — your team stops chasing voicemails.
Verified references
A free biometric facial scan confirms each reference is who they say they are — so you know a real, identified person vouched for the applicant.
Video testimonials
A reference vouching on camera says more than any checkbox ever could.

“I've known Maria for six years — she's kind, dependable, and wonderful with kids.”
This is deliberately designed as a character-reference tool. The applicant chooses and authorizes their own references, and VolunteerBadge acts as a neutral conduit: we deliver the invitation and relay each reference's own voluntary words to you — unedited. We do not investigate, interview on our own initiative, score, rank, or verify the accuracy of what a reference says, and we don't compile a report about the applicant from it.
The applicant picks who to invite, with consent. References answer voluntarily and may decline. VolunteerBadge is simply the software that makes it effortless.
Character references are a value-add, kept separate from the FCRA background check. Our only role as a consumer reporting agency is the criminal background check on the volunteer themselves.
A character reference is not a consumer report, not an investigative consumer report, and not governed by the FCRA. It is a personal opinion offered voluntarily by someone the applicant chose. VolunteerBadge does not verify the accuracy of references and is not acting as a consumer reporting agency with respect to this feature. How you use references is your responsibility, including equal-opportunity and anti-discrimination laws. See our Terms (§13B) and Privacy Policy (§7B).
One verified volunteer profile. Character references are included free with every VolunteerBadge account.
