Advertise your open volunteer roles and get applicants who are already screened.

Post your volunteer openings to the free VolunteerBadge marketplace. Volunteers who hold an active, verified badge discover your roles and apply — and you review each applicant's status-only badge attestation before onboarding them through your own FCRA-compliant screening flow. Why it matters

The case for Opportunity Board

01

Post an opening in under a minute

Add a title, description, category, location (or mark it remote), and time commitment. It goes live on the public board immediately, with its own SEO-friendly page so search engines can surface it to volunteers looking to serve.

02

Every applicant is badge-verified

Volunteers can only apply if they hold an active VolunteerBadge — their own $5 self-screening, valid for 90 days. You see a status-only attestation (badge active, its public ID, and its validity date) — never their screening results — so you know they've been screened before you spend a minute.

03

Onboard through your own screening flow

A badge is a trust signal, not a substitute for your screening. Click "Invite to apply" and the applicant enters your normal application — your own $5 background check, disclosure, authorization, and adverse-action steps if ever needed. You stay in full FCRA control.

04

Turn directory interest into applicants

VolunteerBadge hosts a public nonprofit and church directory. Active-badge volunteers can tap "I want to volunteer here" on your listing, and once you claim your directory profile, that waiting list appears right on your Opportunities screen with the same one-click Invite to apply.

05

Reach nearby volunteers automatically

Volunteers with an account receive a weekly email digest of newly posted roles in their state (plus remote roles) — so your opening reaches interested, already-screened volunteers without any extra work from you.

FAQ

Common questions about Opportunity Board.

Does it cost anything to post an opportunity?

No. Posting to the Opportunity Board is free, always. There are no listing fees. The only thing you ever pay for is your own $5 background checks when you onboard someone.

Does an applicant's badge replace my background check?

No. A badge reflects the volunteer's own self-screening and is shared as a status-only trust signal — it is never a consumer report to you and never substitutes for your organization's own check. When you invite an applicant, they run through your normal FCRA-compliant screening flow.

What information do I see about an applicant?

You see their name, contact details, an optional note, and a status-only badge attestation: whether their badge is active, its public ID, and its validity date. You never see their screening results — those belong to the volunteer.

How do volunteers find my openings?

They browse the public board at volunteerbadge.com/volunteer-opportunities, discover roles through search (each listing has its own indexed page), and receive a weekly email digest of new roles in their state. Volunteers can also raise their hand on your directory profile with "I want to volunteer here."

Do I have to accept everyone who applies?

No. You review each applicant and choose to Invite to apply or Decline. Inviting sends them your normal application; declining is polite and reversible. You remain in full control of who joins your organization.
