Every volunteer completes a live biometric selfie matched to a government photo ID, then triangulated against the SSN trace and address history behind the check — so a borrowed identity can’t get through. Included in every $5 check, at no extra cost.
Why it matters
Each volunteer captures a guided liveness selfie that proves a real, present person — not a saved photo or a deepfake. It’s the same biometric standard fintechs and banks use to open accounts.
The selfie is compared face-to-face against the volunteer’s government-issued photo ID, and the document itself is checked for authenticity. The person and the ID have to be the same human.
Verified identity is then cross-checked against the SSN trace and address history behind the background check. If the name, the face, the ID, and the records don’t line up, you’ll know before anyone is cleared.
A name, date of birth, and SSN can be borrowed — and a clean record searched on the wrong person tells you nothing. Tying a verified, living identity to every application is how you stop someone from screening as somebody else.
There’s no premium tier and no add-on fee. Identity verification is included in the $5 check and runs on every applicant automatically — though you can toggle it off in Settings if you ever need to.
How it works
FAQ
No. It’s built into the $5 background check — no premium tier, no per-feature add-on. Enterprise-grade verification at a nonprofit price.
It’s on by default for every applicant, which is how you keep everyone safe. Owners and admins can toggle the requirement off in Settings if a particular program needs to.
You can turn the identity-verification requirement off for those volunteers in Settings, or invite them to re-verify later once they have an accepted ID. The background check itself still runs.
Yes. Volunteers give explicit, informed consent before any biometric capture, the process follows FCRA and biometric-privacy requirements, and images are stored securely and used only to verify identity for your screening.
