VolunteerBadge Research Guides

Research into the places volunteers meet vulnerable people

Each guide takes one niche — a cause, a population, a kind of programme — and maps it properly: who is actually doing the work, what the evidence says about whether it helps, and how the volunteers involved are screened. Every organization is checked against its own live site, and everything we could not verify is left out and said so.

They are free, they are not gated, and they link out generously. We would rather be useful to this sector than hoard an audience from it.

What we are researching next

There are 77more subjects on the list — youth mentoring, summer camps, foster care and court-appointed advocacy, hospice and memory care, refugee resettlement, disaster response, and the rest of the places where an adult volunteer ends up alone with someone vulnerable. Each one gets the same treatment this first guide got.

If you want the next one, the guide itself has a sign-up. Pick the subjects you actually care about and we will only write to you about those.
