When families choose to educate their children at home, they often wonder how to create space for the rich, varied experiences that help young learners truly thrive. Mustard Seed Co-op began with this very question: what if a small group of like-minded families could gather together, combining their gifts and strengths to nurture the whole child—mind, heart, body, and spirit?

Twice each week, children in kindergarten through third grade arrive at a peaceful learning space where curiosity leads the way. A certified Montessori teacher has thoughtfully designed each gathering to weave together science exploration, nature study, art, phonics, and writing practice. Rather than pushing children to keep pace with a fixed curriculum, the co-op honors where each young learner naturally stands—meeting them with hands-on experiments, process-focused creative work, and the freedom to ask questions. Some children are diving deep into phonics and reading, while others are developing the foundational skills they need; the small group setting makes this possible.

On the days families are not at the co-op, parents continue the partnership at home, guiding their child through core academics while the co-op enriches with discovery. Whether it's a science investigation that sparks wonder, time in nature observing God's creation, or creative expression through art made with natural materials, every experience is designed to kindle a love of learning that lasts.

Founded by a parent and educator who believed children flourish when given freedom to explore alongside guidance and community, Mustard Seed Co-op has grown into a welcoming circle of families united by shared values. In this nurturing environment, children don't just learn—they grow in kindness, develop critical thinking, and discover that learning itself is an adventure worth pursuing.
