Young leaders stepping up for Stamford
IROSA Cares empowers Black and Brown teens in Stamford through volunteer service and education, helping them discover their power to shape stronger communities.

On a Saturday afternoon in Stamford, a group of young people gather at a local park with gloves and bags in hand. They're not there because they have to be—they're there because they want to be part of something bigger than themselves. For these teens, volunteering isn't just about the work; it's about discovering who they can become when given the chance to lead.
IROSA Cares creates those chances. Founded on the belief that young people—especially Black and Brown teens who often lack access to such opportunities—deserve a platform to give back and grow, the organization weaves volunteerism, education, and service into meaningful experiences. Whether it's packing food for families facing food insecurity, writing holiday cards, or organizing community cleanups, each project carries the same message: your voice matters, and your actions can reshape your neighborhood.
These moments ripple outward. When teens serve alongside their peers and mentors, they don't just fill a community need—they build connections, develop leadership skills, and begin to see themselves as changemakers. A student who volunteers today learns they have agency. They learn that service isn't something done to a community; it's something done with it, and by it.
Stamford's young people are writing that story right now. Through signature events like the MLK Day of Service and partnerships with local organizations, IROSA Cares continues to open doors for the next generation of leaders. Each volunteer who steps forward carries the organization's vision forward: a community where young people lead, give back, and feel truly seen and celebrated for the difference they make.
