Art opens doors for everyone in Fort Collins
The Museum of Art Fort Collins connects diverse community members with art and artists through free access programs, workshops, and exhibitions that celebrate contemporary creativity and foster belonging.

On a Saturday morning in Fort Collins, a student walks through the doors of the Museum of Art for the first time—not because of a hefty admission fee, but because of a partnership that made it possible. Through its MoA for All initiative, the museum works closely with local schools, Colorado State University, and community organizations to remove barriers that might otherwise keep people from experiencing art. Free memberships and admission open the museum's doors to those who might not otherwise have the chance to explore what's on display.
Inside, the walls tell stories of our time. Current exhibitions showcase contemporary art that provokes thought and invites conversation—from Northern Colorado artists celebrated in juried shows to installations that challenge how we see the world around us. Workshops and classes throughout the week offer hands-on ways to engage with art, whether it's a community curated conversation about dance, a Terra Cotta bead painting class, or a clothing swap that brings creative reuse to life. These programs invite people of all ages and backgrounds to step into the artistic process themselves.
But the museum's impact extends beyond its College Avenue walls. Docent tours bring art into schools and community spaces, meeting people where they are. Group tours for youth and adults create moments of discovery and connection. By weaving art into the fabric of Fort Collins life, the museum becomes more than a building—it becomes a gathering place where community members encounter creativity, meet fellow art lovers, and recognize themselves in the stories art tells.
When someone becomes a member, they're not just gaining free admission and discounts on programs. They're joining a movement that believes art matters to everyone. Members help sustain the museum's mission to enlighten, educate, and lead the region toward deeper engagement with contemporary art. In doing so, they help ensure that tomorrow, another person in Fort Collins will walk through those doors and discover something that moves them.
