Hot Meals Delivered to Homebound Neighbors Every Weekday
In Lewes and Rehoboth, a daily knock at the door brings a nourishing meal and a friendly face to homebound older and disabled neighbors. It is a simple act that helps people stay safely in the homes they love.
Picture a quiet weekday morning on one of our Lewes-area routes. A volunteer loads insulated containers into the car, checks the day's list, and heads out along familiar roads toward a house where someone has been waiting. For many homebound neighbors, that knock at the door is one of the most reliable parts of the day, a moment of connection as well as a hot, nutritionally balanced meal.
Our meals are designed to give people the nourishment they need to keep up their strength at home. Every delivery helps someone stay in familiar surroundings, surrounded by their own belongings and routines, rather than moving into an institution before they need to. That quiet goal is what drives our daily routes through the 19958 and 19971 zip codes.
Behind each route is a team of dedicated volunteers who give their time with care and consistency. Some drive, some coordinate, and some help with fundraising events that keep our kitchen and delivery work going. Their steady presence is what lets us reach more neighbors, week after week.
For more than fifty years, Meals on Wheels Lewes-Rehoboth has been part of this community's everyday life. Each meal is a small promise that someone is thinking of them, and that promise is kept one doorstep at a time.
