Making science and art come alive in Oklahoma
Future Society of Central Oklahoma opens doors to arts, literature, and science through the engaging world of pop culture, building a welcoming community where creativity and curiosity thrive together.

In Norman, a community of enthusiasts gathers around a shared belief: that science, art, and literature matter—and that pop culture is the perfect gateway to exploring them. Future Society of Central Oklahoma works to make these fields accessible and exciting to people of all backgrounds, creating spaces where imagination and learning intersect in unexpected ways.
The heart of this work happens at SoonerCon, the organization's flagship annual gathering. Here, visitors encounter storytelling in all its forms—from the page to the screen to the imagination—and discover how science, art, and literature shape the worlds we enjoy. Whether someone arrives curious about speculative fiction, eager to connect with fellow enthusiasts, or simply looking for a welcoming place to explore these passions, they find a community ready to celebrate the boundless possibilities these fields offer.
By rooting their mission in pop culture, Future Society of Central Oklahoma meets people where their interests already live. The organization recognizes that exploring ideas through beloved stories and imaginative worlds opens hearts and minds to deeper learning. Through this lens, science becomes less abstract, literature feels more alive, and art finds new relevance in everyday life.
The organization's vision—to learn from the past, work together today, and build a welcoming tomorrow—guides everything they do. In doing so, they're not just preserving and celebrating arts, literature, and science; they're nurturing the next generation of thinkers, creators, and dreamers who will shape Oklahoma's cultural landscape for years to come.
