Building Black voices, strengthening Waco's cultural roots
BLACCENT creates spaces where Black community members in Waco can gather, speak, and be heard—fostering connection and cultural pride across the city.

On any given evening in Waco, you might find neighbors gathered together at one of BLACCENT's community events, sharing stories and strengthening the bonds that hold the neighborhood together. These aren't formal, stuffy gatherings—they're the kind of spaces where people feel comfortable showing up as themselves, whether it's a block party on Elm where music fills the street and conversations flow freely, or a community check-in where voices that often go unheard get their moment in the center.
What makes BLACCENT's work matter is simple: when communities have platforms to articulate their experiences, dreams, and concerns, everything shifts. The organization understands that Black culture and Black voices are the heartbeat of Waco, and that these voices deserve real space, real respect, and real visibility. Whether it's through their gatherings, their shop, or their ongoing initiatives, BLACCENT is weaving connection back into the fabric of the city.
For residents of Waco, BLACCENT represents something vital—a place where community doesn't just happen by accident, but is intentionally built and celebrated. Every event, every gathering, every moment of showing up together is an investment in a stronger, more connected neighborhood where everyone belongs.
