Restoration Planting & Survival Log

Everybody has the planting figure — it is generated on the day, in front of a camera, and it is in the newsletter that week. Almost nobody has the survival figure, because it is generated eighteen months later by one person with a clipboard and no audience. This workbook makes the missing visit visible: every planting gets due dates from your own intervals, and a planting past its window with no monitoring recorded reads MONITORING OVERDUE. Survival is computed from what you actually counted, so a sample stays a sample rather than quietly becoming a claim about the whole site.

  • Monitoring due dates from your own intervals
  • Survival computed from what was counted, not what was planted
  • A count of plantings nobody has been back to

Survival targets vary enormously by species, stock, site and region, and a figure borrowed from another project can make a good planting look like a failure. If your funder set one, use theirs; if nobody did, leave it blank and report the number honestly.
