Cleanup Event Debris & Volunteer Log

A tonne of debris removed is a good sentence for a newsletter and a poor basis for anything else — it is dominated by whatever happened to be heavy that day and says nothing about where the material came from. Four hundred cups from one stretch of riverbank in three hours is a fact about a specific source, and that is the kind of fact that changes an ordinance or a concessions policy. So this log records both, keeps volunteer hours alongside, and computes a per-hour figure. Categories are yours — and if you submit to a national dataset, use theirs instead so your counts can actually be pooled.

  • Item counts by your own categories, alongside weight
  • Volunteer hours and items per volunteer hour
  • Events where bags were weighed and nothing was counted

If you submit to a national or regional dataset, replace the category list with theirs. Aggregated counts are only comparable when everybody counts the same things the same way, and a locally invented category cannot be pooled with anyone else’s.
