Accession & Deed of Gift Register
An object can be catalogued, numbered, photographed, insured and displayed for thirty years and still not belong to your organisation — and nobody finds out until a deaccession, an insurance claim, or an heir. Cataloguing is what you did; title is what the donor did, by signing something, on a date. So every row here starts at NO SIGNED DEED and will not move until both the deed date and the name of the person who signed for the donor are present. The sample row is fully catalogued and still reads NO SIGNED DEED, because that is the most common real row in a small museum.
- NO SIGNED DEED until a deed date and a signer exist
- Restrictions flagged when attached but never written down
- Incoming loans with no end date flagged as future old loans
