A rota kept as a list answers “who is on Friday?” and hides the question that matters: which role is short, on which night, and by how much. This renders performances down and roles across, counting only volunteers who actually confirmed, so a gap shows several days out instead of at the call. Read down a column and ushers being short on six of eleven nights stops looking like eleven scheduling problems and starts looking like the recruitment problem it is. It ships no minimum staffing number — how many ushers a room needs is set by whoever inspects that room.
