Growing roots, growing futures in Flower Mound
Wildly Rooted connects young people in North Texas with nature and hands-on learning that transforms how they see themselves and their community.

On a Saturday morning in Flower Mound, a group of teenagers work the soil in a community garden bed, their hands dirty, their faces focused. For many of them, this is their first time planting something and watching it grow—a small act that becomes a turning point in how they think about learning, nature, and their own capabilities.
Wildly Rooted creates spaces where young people step away from traditional classrooms and into direct experience with the living world. Whether they're tending plants, building habitats, or learning the ecology of the prairie that once thrived here, participants discover that education happens everywhere—and that they are capable of more than they imagined.
The work ripples outward. As young people reconnect with the land and each other, they begin to care for their community differently. Gardens become gathering places. Natural areas get restored. And quiet transformations happen—a teenager who thought nature was boring now spends weekends observing insects; a young person who felt disconnected from school finds purpose in tending something real.
In a region of rapid growth and change, Wildly Rooted anchors young people to the earth beneath their feet and to each other, proving that the most powerful learning often grows in the most unexpected places.
