Where young hearts encounter God in the pines
Pineywoods Camp, a Baptist retreat center nestled in East Texas, creates space for children, youth, and families to step away from daily life and grow in their faith through summer camps and weekend retreats.

In the heart of the East Texas piney woods, about ninety miles north of Houston, sits a place that has been welcoming groups through its gates since 1945. Pineywoods Camp began as a vision of Baptist churches in the region—eighteen acres purchased with hopes of creating somewhere special, somewhere purposeful. Today, that vision continues as families and youth groups arrive each summer and throughout the year seeking something deeper than the ordinary rhythm of home.
The magic of Pineywoods lies in what happens when people step away from the everyday rush. Whether a child is attending summer camp in June, July, or August, or a church group is gathering for a weekend retreat during the cooler months, the goal remains the same: to create a distraction-free space where faith can flourish. The camp's modern-rustic facilities and the East Texas hospitality of its staff set the stage, but the real transformation happens in quieter moments—around campfires, in chapel spaces, and during activities that help young people and families connect with one another and with God.
Behind every successful summer and every meaningful retreat is a network of dedicated people. Year-round staff members maintain the grounds and facilities, while seasonal workers arrive with servant hearts ready for long days of work that matter deeply. Volunteers—sponsors, leaders, and prayer warriors—prepare throughout the year, then shepherd thousands of children and youth through the camp gates. It is this combination of careful stewardship, genuine hospitality, and faithful service that allows Pineywoods to fulfill its calling: providing an environment where lives are genuinely changed and where people encounter something sacred.
