Maine students flourish with personalized paths to success
MOXIE Public Schools offers innovative, tuition-free education in South Portland, blending rigorous academics with real-world learning and personalized support so every student reaches their full potential.

In South Portland, a new kind of public school is opening its doors to Maine students ready to grow. MOXIE Public Schools believes that every young person—regardless of where they start—deserves to be seen, supported, and prepared for what comes next. The school weaves together academic mastery, meaningful real-world projects, and the kind of personal attention that helps students discover their own strengths and potential.
Walking through MOXIE, you'll find students working on problems that matter. They're not just reading about Maine's natural resources or software development—they're out in the field, building, creating, and earning real workforce credentials and college credit while still in high school. Each student has their own personalized learning plan and a trusted advisor who knows them by name, tracks their progress, and helps them move forward at their own pace. When a student masters a skill, they move ahead, opening doors to advanced coursework, internships, and early-college opportunities.
What sets MOXIE apart is its commitment to staying with students over time. Families choose the school knowing their child will have the same supportive community from 6th grade through graduation—a safe, connected place where they're known and valued. Teachers provide targeted instruction tailored to each learner, building confidence as students grow.
By the time a MOXIE student graduates, they carry far more than a diploma. They leave with academic skills, real experience, a personal post-secondary plan, college credits already earned, and a network of peers, educators, and workforce connections ready to support them into their next chapter. MOXIE Public Schools opens its first campus for grades 6–9 in 2026, offering tuition-free, innovative learning right here in Maine.
