Charlotte youth discover their futures through hands-on exploration
Exposure Project empowers middle and high school students in Charlotte to develop character and explore career paths through practical, immersive experiences—opening doors to opportunity and purpose.

Every year, young people in Charlotte walk into classrooms wondering what their future might hold. Some have mentors who can show them the way. Many don't. That's where Exposure Project steps in, meeting students where they are and opening windows to possibilities they might never have imagined on their own.
The program doesn't just talk about careers—it puts students directly in touch with the work itself. Through shadow experiences with industry experts, hands-on exposure trips, and service learning projects, young people see what it takes to succeed in fields they're curious about. They work alongside professionals across dozens of career sectors, ask real questions, and begin to envision themselves in roles they didn't know existed. These aren't abstract lessons; they're moments of discovery that stick.
But Exposure Project knows that career exploration is only half the equation. Alongside these experiences, the program weaves in character development—helping students build resilience, confidence, and the soft skills that matter in any field. Parents are part of the journey too, ensuring that families understand and support their young person's growth. Culmination events celebrate how far each student has come, marking milestones and reinforcing the sense that their future is something they can actively shape.
In Charlotte, hundreds of young people have already walked through these doors. They've met industry experts, tried on new roles, and begun to believe in themselves in ways they didn't before. For many, that shift—from wondering to knowing, from uncertain to purposeful—changes everything.
