Advocating for full inclusion in our community
The Arc of Horry promotes the rights and participation of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, working to ensure they have meaningful opportunities to thrive throughout their lives in the Conway area.

In Horry County, individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities often face barriers to full participation in community life. The Arc of Horry exists to change that—to open doors and create pathways where people with IDD can belong, contribute, and build the futures they envision for themselves. Through advocacy, partnerships, and inclusive opportunities, the organization works steadily to shift how the community sees and supports these individuals.
The Arc's approach is rooted in the belief that every person deserves dignity, choice, and the chance to participate fully in their community. Rather than working in isolation, The Arc builds bridges—connecting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to local partners, resources, and opportunities that help them thrive. Whether through advocacy efforts, community education, or direct support, the organization champions the human rights and inclusion of individuals who might otherwise be overlooked.
In Conway and throughout Horry County, The Arc of Horry serves as both a voice and a guide. Volunteers and board members give their time to strengthen the organization's reach, while the broader community learns more about intellectual and developmental disabilities and the capabilities of those who live with them. By fostering these connections and commitments, The Arc plants seeds for lasting change—building a community where individuals with IDD are valued members, supported throughout their lifetimes, and empowered to dream big.
