Dance brings people together in Eastern Washington
Mid-Columbia Contemporary Dance empowers its community through accessible classes and vibrant performances, creating spaces where dancers of all levels can discover movement, expression, and connection.

In Kennewick and the surrounding Mid-Columbia region, a local dance organization is quietly transforming how people experience movement and artistry. Mid-Columbia Contemporary Dance opens its studio doors to beginners taking their first tentative steps, to experienced dancers refining their craft, and to everyone in between. The classes flow with a spirit of welcome—no auditions, no barriers, just the chance to move and belong.
What makes this work is simplicity and access. Drop-in classes mean that a neighbor can show up on a Tuesday evening after work, or a teenager can try something new on a Saturday morning, without committing to expensive memberships or rigid schedules. The Red Jasper Studios in Richland becomes a gathering place where bodies in motion create something larger than any single person—a sense of community built through shared rhythm and intention.
Beyond the studio walls, the organization brings dance to life on stage. Performance opportunities give dancers a chance to step into the spotlight and share the artistry they have been building in class. These moments—when technique meets emotion, when a movement becomes a story—remind performers and audiences alike why dance matters. It is not just exercise or a hobby; it is a language for expressing what words cannot.
For Eastern Washington, Mid-Columbia Contemporary Dance plants a seed of creative possibility. It says: you belong here, your body is enough, and movement can be your teacher, your friend, and your voice.
