braveONE is a Texas-based nonprofit that pairs kids living with Type 1 Diabetes with trained, screened mentors who live with T1D themselves. Now it's piloting its first local chapter, in New England.

Founder Brandi Pillow explains why local partners matter: a chapter helps manage matches, checks in with families, keeps mentors and kids engaged, and shares local events and outings they can enjoy together. Her long-term goal is a braveONE chapter in every state, so a family can apply, get connected to their local chapter and be matched with a mentor who truly understands.
