Frequently asked questions

Can we control what staff and volunteers post on their personal accounts?+

You can set reasonable expectations for content that involves the Organization or identifies them as affiliated with it — protecting confidentiality, requiring consent for client and minor images, and using a "views are my own" disclaimer. You generally should not try to control unrelated personal expression.

How should we handle posting photos of program participants?+

Get documented consent first, and obtain parental or guardian consent for minors. Take special care with vulnerable clients and, when in doubt, avoid identifying details. Pair this policy with a Photo & Media Release Policy.

Who owns our official social media accounts?+

The Organization does — not the individuals who manage them. This policy makes that clear, requires shared records of accounts and access, and ensures access is removed when someone's role ends.
