Frequently asked questions

Do reports go to the authorities or just to leadership?+

To the authorities. A reasonable suspicion of abuse, neglect, or exploitation must be reported to child or adult protective services and/or law enforcement as required by law. Notifying the organization internally supports that report but never replaces it.

Do I need proof before I report?+

No. A reasonable suspicion is enough. Reporters are not expected to investigate or confirm the concern first, and a good-faith report is protected even if it is not ultimately substantiated.

Can someone be retaliated against for reporting?+

No. The policy strictly prohibits retaliation against anyone who reports in good faith or cooperates with an investigation, and treats retaliation as a violation subject to discipline.
