The Opportunity Board is a free marketplace where organizations that screen with VolunteerBadge post their open volunteer roles, and volunteers who hold an active VolunteerBadge apply directly. Listings are always free to post.
Posting an opportunity (organizations)
- Open Dashboard → Free Perks → Opportunities and click Post an opportunity.
- Add a title, description, category, location (or mark it remote), and time commitment. It goes live on the public board immediately.
- When someone applies, you get an email and in-app notification. Applicants appear under the posting with a status-only badge attestation — whether their badge is active and its validity date, never their screening results.
- Click Invite to apply to send your default volunteer application — your normal flow, including your own $5 background check, disclosure, authorization, and (if ever needed) adverse-action steps. Or Decline.
- Close a posting anytime; reopen it later.
A badge is a trust signal — not your screening
Claiming your organization's directory profile
VolunteerBadge also hosts a public nonprofit & church directory pre-seeded from IRS public records. The fastest way to claim your page: in Dashboard → Public Profile, enter your EIN, confirm the match, and it's yours instantly. You can also click Claim this profile on the page itself (sign in or create your free account first) — those claims are reviewed by our team. Once claimed, your directory page shows a Claimed badge and links to your open volunteer opportunities. Spot an error on a profile, or want one removed? Email support@screenforgelabs.com and we'll take care of it promptly.
Volunteers with an active badge can also tap “I want to volunteer here” on an unclaimed profile. Those hand-raises appear publicly as “N badge-verified volunteers want to serve here,” and when the organization claims its profile, the waiting list appears under Dashboard → Free Perks → Opportunities — with one-click Invite to apply into your normal application + background-check flow.
Applying (volunteers)
Browse volunteerbadge.com/volunteer-opportunities freely. Applying requires an active VolunteerBadge — your own $5 background screening, valid for 90 days — which travels with your application as a verified attestation. Get or renew yours on your badge page.
Your badge page is also your home base: track every application's status (Submitted → Invited to apply), withdraw one anytime, and keep a list of saved roles (tap Save on any opportunity). You can also opt into quarterly auto-renew at checkout — your $5 self-screening runs automatically each quarter until you cancel, which takes one click on the same page.
Volunteers with an account also receive a weekly email digest of newly posted roles in their state (plus remote roles) — only on weeks when something new was posted. Every digest has a one-click unsubscribe that stops the digests without affecting badge, renewal, or account emails.
