Optionally ask volunteers to attach a verified SMART Health Card — a value-added benefit kept separate from the background check.

VolunteerBadge can optionally ask each volunteer to attach a SMART Health Card — the digitally signed, QR-code immunization record issued by states, pharmacies, and health systems — during their application. It lets a volunteer carry a verified immunization record alongside their identity and background check, in one place, so your team isn't chasing paper vaccine cards and email attachments. Please read first — this is not a background check

An immunization record is a value-added convenience, not a consumer report and not part of any background check. The FCRA does not govern it. VolunteerBadge verifies only that the card's digital signature is authentic — never the medical accuracy of its contents or a person's health status, and it is never a health clearance. How you request, store, and act on health information is your responsibility, including the ADA, GINA, Title VII, and applicable state health-privacy, vaccination, exemption, and accommodation laws. Don't use it to unlawfully exclude anyone, honor medical and religious exemptions, and consider consulting your own counsel before requiring or acting on it. Turn it on

Go to Settings → Health.
Switch on "Ask volunteers for their immunization record."
That's it — new volunteer applications will now include an optional immunization step.

What the volunteer sees

During their application, the volunteer gets an optional Immunization Record step. They can upload their SMART Health Card QR image (or paste the shc:/ code), and we verify it with the issuer on the spot. The step is optional — they can skip it and finish their application either way.

Where you see it

On the volunteer's profile, a "Immunization record · Verified" card shows the issuer and the list of vaccines. It sits in its own card, clearly separate from the background-check report — and it is never mixed into the consumer report.
