Every U.S. nonprofit has a page in the VolunteerBadge directory (built from IRS public records). There are two ways to claim yours:
- By EIN — instant: in Dashboard → Public Profile, enter your organization's 9-digit EIN, confirm the matched listing is really you, and the page is claimed on the spot — no waiting.
- From the page itself: the green “Claim this profile — free” button on your directory page files a claim our team reviews (usually within 1–2 business days).
Once claimed, Dashboard → Public Profile unlocks full control:
- Visibility: a toggle to hide your organization from the directory entirely (search, near-me results, and your page URL).
- Logo: display the logo from Settings → Organization on your public page.
- Showcase video: record up to 2 minutes right in the dashboard (your camera opens in the page) or upload a video you already have.
- Your story: a rich text section with formatting (bold, headings, lists, links) and a live preview.
- “Volunteer with us” button: pick one of your application templates and a big apply button appears on your page — it opens your shareable application in a new tab, straight into your normal screening flow.
- Contact: show a public email, and/or turn on a contact form — messages are spam-gated (human check, honeypot, rate limits) and land in your Public Profile inbox and your notification email, with reply-to set to the sender.
- Social links: Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and X.
Changes go live fast
Public pages are cached briefly for speed — edits appear within about 5 minutes.
Not in the directory? Create your profile
If your organization doesn't have a page — it's new, not a 501(c)(3), or simply missing from the IRS records — you can create one from Dashboard → Public Profile → Create your public profile. The short request has three steps:
- Your organization: name, location, organization type, and optionally your EIN and website. (If your EIN turns out to already be in the directory, we file a claim on that existing page for you instead.)
- Volunteer program: whether and how you engage volunteers, the roles they fill, roughly how many serve with you, and a few sentences about the program. The directory is reserved for organizations that genuinely engage volunteers, so this part is required.
- Acknowledgments: confirmations that your volunteers are unpaid and serve a charitable or community purpose, that you're not a staffing agency or business recruiting through the listing, that you're authorized to represent the organization, and that VolunteerBadge may review or remove listings.
Our team reviews every request — usually within 1–2 business days — and emails you when your page is live. Nothing appears publicly until it's approved. Once live, the page works exactly like a claimed profile, with all the customization above.
